Will Stott at T&G in Gachibowli, Hyderabad (2018)This is my personal website. I suspect most of my blogs will be about technology with an emphasis on agile and software development in the Microsoft stack as this what I enjoy the most. However, I hope to include some blogs about topics that have attracted my attention in science and engineering as well as a few written just for fun.

Mostly my blogs will explain how I managed to do something specific like build this website or edit a DICOM image. However, there will also be some blogs which provide more general coverage of a topic, or simply review what is known about a subject and identify areas that need further work.

I typically describe myself as a software developer as most of my career has been spent designing, programming, testing, fixing and rolling-out various types of software. Although I enjoying doing the hands-on stuff I sometimes get involved with helping teams to perform better, or working with the business to ensure their project delivers good value. Over the years I’ve worked for some big companies like IBM, Accenture, and Cap-Gemini as well as small start-ups and lots of those in-between. However, my career path changed about ten years ago when I was given the opportunity to work as a researcher at the Institute for Women's Health, University College London (UCL). This is where I learnt how to perform medical research and it eventually led to me adding a PhD thesis and a few scientific papers to my list of publications. Nevertheless I still view myself much more as a software developer than as an academic, but who knows what lies around the next corner?

During my career many people have helped me either by their writings, or in person. I owe them all a huge debt of gratitude. Accordingly the overarching objective of this website is to repay some of that debt by sharing my knowledge and ideas as well as experiences. I hope that visitors will help me in this effort by adding their own comments to correct, improve, or expand upon what they have found here.
